Defence Humanists is a growing body of servicemen and women, their families, veterans, and civilian members of the Ministry of Defence, who seek to represent the interests of all those who subscribe to non-religious beliefs.

Defence Humanists forms an autonomous but integral part of the Humanists UK. As part of its broader agenda, Humanists UK works to enhance the public understanding and appreciation of secularism. We do this by identifying and publicising key instances where people are unfairly privileged or discriminated against because of their religion or belief or where principles of human rights or equality are compromised. We then engage in effective advocacy to influence public opinion, government policy, legislation, and case law in order to resolve these situations.

At Humanists UK, we advance free thinking and promote humanism to create a tolerant society where rational thinking and kindness prevail. Our work brings non-religious people together to develop their own views, helping people be happier and more fulfilled in the one life we have. Through our ceremonies, education services, and community and campaigning work, we strive to create a fair and equal society for all.

Humanists UK is a registered charity in England and Wales (no. 285987) and depends on donations and legacies from its members and supporters to carry out its work. You can join or donate or register for our free e-bulletin online.
